AHCC Satellite Session at AIDS 2026

Galvanizing HIV Cure Research in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: Lessons and Perspectives from Africa

The African HIV Cure Consortium (AHCC) will convene a satellite session at AIDS 2026 to highlight Africa’s growing leadership in HIV cure research and demonstrate how low- and middle-income countries are shaping the future of the global HIV cure agenda.

The session will feature presentations on:

  • An overview of the African HIV Cure Consortium (AHCC) and its vision for advancing HIV cure research in Africa.
  • Building HIV cure advocacy, community and policy engagement, including the HIV CUREiculum, community education, advocacy and emerging HIV cure science.
  • Accelerating HIV cure research and capacity strengthening in Africa, highlighting research agenda setting, research-for-cure initiatives and collaborative approaches that are strengthening scientific leadership across the continent.
  • A multidisciplinary panel discussion bringing together researchers, clinicians, community leaders and government representatives to discuss the opportunities, challenges and partnerships needed to ensure Africa plays a leading role in achieving an equitable HIV cure.
