COVID-19 Conversations with JEREMY NEL

On this webinar, Acting SANAC CEO, Ms Coceka Nogoduka will speak to us about the role that the South African National AIDS Council is playing in the current COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of strategic partnerships and her thoughts on the rapidly evolving COVID-19 research and advocacy landscape and how the Council seeks to protect historical gains and investments made in the HIV, TB and STI sectors.

Professor Jeremy Nel will then introduce this broad collective of Civil Society to the Solidarity Trial, an international clinical trial to help find an effective treatment for COVID-19, launched by the World Health Organization and partners. The trial compares options against standard of care, to assess their relative effectiveness against COVID-19. By enrolling patients in multiple countries, the Solidarity Trial aims to rapidly discover whether any of the drugs slow disease progression or improve survival.
